tour itinerary
Highland Single Malt Whisky Tour
We love all of the Scottish whiskies—from Highland Park to Jura and Lagavulin to Aberlour—but if we were forced to pick a favourite area of Scotland, it would have to be the Highlands.
The whisky being produced right on our doorstep can stand up and be counted among the best in the world. With a huge variety being sold from Glen Ord to Balblair and Dalmore to Glenmorangie, there really is a whisky to suit all tastebuds.
Which Distilleries Are an Option?
Glen Ord Distillery
Diageo owned, they malt their own barley
Founded in 1838 and owned by Diageo, Glen Ord distillery is the last remaining distillery on the Black Isle. Uniquely, they still malt their own barley on-site—producing enough to supply other distilleries within the Diageo brand.
Tour options start at £24pp and we'll be happy to make recommendations based on the experience you are looking for and your budget.
Glenmorangie Distillery
LVMH's iconic Highland distillery led by whisky legend Dr Bill Lumsden
Over the last 13 years, Glenmorangie Distillery has worked its way into our collection and now dominates with no less than three whiskies appearing in our tasting stock.
One of our absolute favourite whiskies for a special occasion is The Glenmorangie Signet. £200 a bottle and you can purchase tastes at the distillery for £15.
Lunch & Afternoon DramsThere are lots of options, but our favourite is the Dornoch Castle Hotel which is home to Dornoch Distillery and the Thompson Bros, featuring one of the finest whisky collections in the country. Best of all, they are all on the menu and available to purchase by the dram.
Clynelish Distillery
Another Diageo owned distillery know for its signature waxy whisky and right next door to the historic Brora distilery
Located on the scenic East Coast of Sutherland, around 30mins north of Dornoch, Clynelish is a long time favourite of ours. This distillery is known for producing a rich, waxy, fruity, and slightly smoky single malt that is a key component of the world-famous Johnnie Walker blends.
The location offers beautiful coastal views, which you can enjoy from their elegant sea-view bar. The tours often feature a fun, interactive story room that brings the distillery’s history to life. It's a fantastic stop for those seeking a coastal Highland dram with a unique texture. Tours and tastings available.
Balblair Distillery
One of Scotland's oldest distilleries still producing fine single malt scotch whisky
Balblair is one of the oldest working distilleries in the Highlands, first established in 1790. Nestled near the Dornoch Firth, it produces an exceptional single malt renowned for its characteristic balance of fruity spice, sweetness, and complexity.
It offers a taste of their fantastic selection of age statements and single cask whisky. A nice touch here is that you can bottle your own whisky straight from the single cask—a unique and great memory of your time in Scotland.
Tomatin Distillery
Award winning single malts and single casks
We love their branding, their staff are fun, and their selection of whisky is superb. Illegal whisky production reportedly occurred here since the 15th century (definitely from the 1700s), with the first official distillery was established in 1897.
Tomatin are forward-thinking, creative, and have a great sense of humour!

- Sunny day? Head out to the gardens to enjoy a whisky in the sunshine.
- Wee bit chilly? The castle bar is an extremely pleasant place to enjoy a fine single malt with the locals.
