Tour Itinerary
Discover the Flavours of Speyside Whisky
Speyside is world-renowned for its exquisite whisky, and it’s just a short drive from Inverness. With numerous distilleries to explore, we love to chat with our guests to tailor the perfect day based on your favourite distilleries and any hidden gems we believe you would enjoy. Below are some of our top recommendations, along with detailed offerings at each distillery. If there are distilleries you are eager to visit that aren't listed, please let us know!
Speyside Options:
- Benromach Distillery ↗ Visit Benromach (https://www.benromach.com/):
Begin your day at this charming distillery owned by the independent bottlers Gordon & MacPhail. Benromach has an impressive selection showcasing both innovative and traditional whiskies. You can look forward to tasting their meticulously crafted varieties, each with unique flavour profiles that reflect the heritage of Speyside whisky.
- Glen Moray Distillery ↗ Visit Glen Moray (https://www.glenmoray.com/):
Arguably some of the best whisky on the planet. Our guest favourites are often the three single casks which change throughout the year and constantly offer something new and interesting to experience. Notable single casks from recent years include a 15 year full Barolo maturation and a 19 year peated Rioja. If you like what you taste they even let you bottle it on site and take home. Such a cool experience and at prices which make you feel like you are truly getting a deal. Great whiksy at a great price. What's not to like?
- Benriach Distillery ↗ Visit Benriach (https://www.benriachdistillery.com/en-us/distillery-tours/):
Rachel Barrie is the master distiller behind the magical creations currently coming out of Benriach. If you know whisky then you'll probably aware the master distiller plays a huge part in making sure what ends up in the bottle is something you're going to go back to again and again. Benriach does this particularly well. Again more single casks on site to taste, enjoy and buy. Peated Olorosos and Pedro Ximenez Port Pipes comes to mind. IYKYK
- Speyside Cooperage ↗ Visit Speyside Cooperage (https://www.speysidecooperage.co.uk/tours.php):
A popular stop, here you can learn about the traditional art of barrel-making. The cooperage offers a very interesting guided tour where you can witness skilled coopers at work and gain insights into the importance of barrels in the whisky maturation process.
- Macallan Distillery ↗ Visit Macallan (https://www.themacallan.com/en/distillery/book-experiences):
Macallan Distillery is a work of art and well worth a visit if you want to see one of the most iconic distilleries in the world. As such they like guests to book in advance. You can book a personal shopping experience for free which gives you access to the grounds, visitor centre and shop with the potential to purchase a dram at the bar, if they can fit you in. Macallan also offers tours, bar experinces and dining experiences. Spaces are limited but if this is of interest let us know and we'll be happy to check availability and options for you.
- Balvenie Distillery ↗ Visit Balvenie (https://www.thebalvenie.com/):
While walk-ins are welcome to visit their shop, tours tend to fill up quickly as they only offer two tours per day. During the tour, you’ll learn about the unique processes that make Balvenie special, such as malting their own barley and using traditional methods to craft their whiskies. We can check availability for your date and if a tour isn't possible you can pop next door to big brother Glenfiddich to taste a range of Balvenies.
